Keeping kids in School

Keeping kids in school everyone’s priority

Helping to give kids best start in life by staying in school is a community effort, as seen by the recent success of a joint program by the City of Swan, WA Police, the Office of Crime Prevention, the Department of Education and Training (DET) and local businesses.

The Keeping Kids in School program is a DET initiative designed to encourage students to make the best of the education that is available to them by discouraging non-attendance. The program began as a pilot in Stratton and Swan View, however it has proven to be very popular and has now spread across Midland to Woodbridge with major Shopping centres such as Midland Gate and Centrepoint taking part.

The basis of the program is participating businesses refusing to serve school-aged children during school hours if they do not have a legitimate leave pass.
